PHOTOCHEM - Getting the Antioxidant Picture

With the PHOTOCHEM, Analytik Jena AG offers the first system solution for the quantification of antioxidants in water-soluble and lipid-soluble systems on a single system. PHOTOCHEM is using the method of photochemiluminescence. The method combines the very fast photochemical radical generation with the highly sensitive luminometric detection. The key feature of this method is the speed of oxidative reactions that is up to 100 times higher compared to normal conditions. This increase is achieved by photochemical stimulation of the reacting molecules, which makes very fast measuring times possible.

Application fields of the PHOTOCHEM are wherever free radicals appear and the antioxidative properties of substances, as well as their interaction are to be quantified.

Sample preparation is straightforward and only requires a small quantity of sample material. In addition, the measurement shows no dependence on a specific pH value or temperature.

The PHOTOCHEM opens the possibility of a time- and a cost-effective analysis of antioxidants in many areas of application like medicine, cosmetics, pharmacy, nutrition art, food technology, chemical industry, naturopathy, agriculture, forestry and mineral oil industry.
